Teachers get summers off, right? We're supposedly footloose and fancy-free for three months, with not a thing to do on our to-do list.
(insert dry laugh here.) Right.
Only recently have I been able to find time to blog again, but if you want to read about what I did in the months of June and the beginning of July, check this post out.
This last week I have, though, been a little more "free." I have had the opportunity to do a little organizing, get back on the get-fit wagon, work on some much needed stuff for Student Council this year, and even spend some much needed time with Husband.
You know the kind I mean.
I am in my comfy new Aeropostale sweats (because hallelujah it got cool enough in my house overnight to actually wear pants, instead of shorts), drinking an incredibly tasty cup of coffee that Husband brewed before he headed off to work this morning, watching a television show or two, and, of course, blogging.
By the way, this mug is th best mug ever. No, it's not cute, but it's seriously the best mug I have ever had a cup of coffee in, and if you know me at all, you know that is a lot of mugs.
The rest of the day and weekend? Well, I need to run into school to get some supplies and then to a few stores to do a bit of shopping. Tomorrow I'll go to Husband's softball games, to a friends big 4-0 bash, to celebrate my grandpa's 95th birthday, and then home to pack for a week trip to our state Student Council camp.
Check back in with you next week, I hope!
There's a wagon that gets you fit?? I want a ride. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the mug - my favorites aren't the prettiest either - they are the ones that hold the MOST. yeah.
My husband does not drink coffee so I've never had the pleasure of someone else making it before leaving for work. However, he does know how much I love it and will often bring my first cup to me in bed. Now, that's some serious love.
Hope your student council camp week goes well. 27 kids is a lot o' kids to be a counsellor for, but it does sound like it will be fun. Get some rest before you go, sounds like you'll need it!!
I hope you have a wonderful time at camp - and get some time to relax before the school year starts.
ReplyDeleteMy sister is a teacher, and I know that you don't get summer vacation like people think you do. And it's definitely not a 9-5 job. I'm sure you'll enjoy your time with the kids. Lots of great memories to come huh? =)
ReplyDeleteSounds busy! As a home schooling family we always look forward to a relaxing summer...but it very rarely is, just a different kind of busy!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why we're always surprised that summer is full and flies...it always is and does. I was in my pjs til noon today too. Gotta do that sometimes!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah...... Teachers work from 9-3 and have ALLLLLLLLL those holidays!
ReplyDeleteI was a fulltime teacher for 17yrs before I got to stay home part-time & supply teach. If I had a penny for everytime I'd fumed at that assumption I'd be rich enough to not have to work again! Lol!
Luckily my OH cottoned on pretty quick once we got married and would either steer me away from the conversation or butt in and stand up for all teachers!
Enjoy YOUR break....... and student camp (which actually sounds fun! Student councils are beginning to catch on in my neck of the woods "my" school won an award for theirs!)
AM
I love the name of your blog -- I have 2 kids, so I'm unsure of what a day off really looks like most of the time. However, husband and I are going to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at a resort out of town, so I am looking forward to a full 24 hours away!
